NAATI

The National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) is the accreditation body for translators and interpreters in Australia. NAATI is the only body authorised to issue accreditation for translators and interpreters who wish to work as professional language practitioners in Australia. It also approves tertiary-level courses in translation and interpreting which fulfil stringent criteria. NAATI accreditation system provides quality assurance to the clients of translators and interpreters.   NAATI accredited translators provide certified translations that are accepted by most institutions throughout Australia, including: 

  • Department of Immigration and Citizenship 

  • Australian universities

  • Registry of Births Deaths and Marriages

  • Australian Courts (including Family Courts) & Tribunals

  • Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade 

  • Department of Transport and Main Roads (Qld) 

  • Medical Board of Australia 

  • Dental Board of Australia 

  • Engineers Australia

AUSIT

The Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators (AUSIT) is the national peak organisation for the translating and interpreting profession in Australia. AUSIT and NAATI work together to set, maintain and monitor standards in the translation and interpreting profession in Australia. AUSIT recognises NAATI accreditation as the minimum basic qualification for practising as a professional translator or interpreter in Australia. AUSIT promotes ethics and quality standards throughout the industry.
